GIDEC provide the latest diagnostic and treatment options as well as a variety of procedure-related services to assist in the diagnosis and management of digestive health problems.
Gastroenterology problems and their symptoms can be irritating, alarming, and uncomfortable. Our providers understand your concerns and will address them with compassion and care. You can be reassured of the quality of services we provide, as our physicians perform routine colonoscopies at a level that exceeds national averages.
Moreover, as each physician has specific areas of interest and expertise that translates to a concentrated experience in a particular procedure resulting in a high level of skill rarely encountered in a community based practice.
We evaluate and manage patients with gastrointestinal problems by performing clinical procedures such as:
Colonoscopy is an endoscopic procedure used to inspect and examine the lining of the large bowel (colon). By using a thin, flexible tube called a colonoscope we will be able to look at the colon to check for tumors, ulcers, colonic polyps and areas of inflammation or possibly bleeding.
Gastroscopy, also known as an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy is performed using a narrow, flexible, telescopic camera called a gastroscope. The gastroscope is swallowed and passed down your esophagus into your stomach and then into the first part of the small bowel, the duodenum.
ERCP is an endoscopic technique used to diagnose and treat conditions related to the biliary tree, pancreas and liver. It is a technique that combines both endoscopy (use of a long flexible tube with a light and camera at the tip) and xrays to allow a specialist to see and examine the drainage tubes (ducts) of the liver, gallbladder and pancreas.

All you need to know about billing and coverage
Upon arrival at our facility, if you have already filled out your health history and other forms, please present them to the Front Desk staff when you check in. If you do not have these with you we will ask you to complete several forms.
In the process of your gastroenterology evaluation, a history and physical examination will be performed by one of our highly qualified providers. On occasion, one of our certified Physician Assistants or a Nurse Practitioner may be involved with your consultation or follow-up visit.
Prior records, including any available office notes, as well as laboratory, x-ray, and pathology reports will be reviewed. After this has been completed, recommendations for treatment or additional testing will be reviewed with you. A full report of our findings and suggested treatment(s) will also be sent to your referring and/or primary care physician.
Upon completion of your visit with the provider you will be routed to the check-out desk and scheduling department. At this point, our highly trained staff members will provide detailed instructions regarding any laboratory, radiologic, or endoscopic services that have been ordered.
Many patients who are referred to GIDEC Ghana require some type of endoscopic procedure. This would be arranged either at The Endoscopy Center or one of the affiliated hospital sites depending on the equipment and services which may be required for your procedure.
